about
Haven't I mentioned before that I love Mega Man? Hello Capcom, I am a big fan.
This song is dedicated to all my friends in The Philippines with whom I lost touch after moving to the US.
Years later, I was exposed to the internet, and that nostalgic feeling re-emerged while searching for lost friends.
I first wrote this song all in Tagalog because I wanted to express to them that I haven't lost the ability to speak the language. Later on, I switched it to Tag-lish for two reasons. One, frankly I'm much better writing in English than Tagalog. And two, I thought it was interesting to tell the story through a person writing a letter in Tagalog. And I didn't want to write it just for the sake of writing a song in a different language, and this angle gave me the perfect vehicle for structuring it as such.
Ang buhay ko
ay napakahirap,
ikaw ay hinahanap
sa buong mundo
As I step upon the edge of a chasm,
spreading out the wings of an airplane
Until it gets across the bay
these words will be an anthem:
Nasaan ka ba?
Tibok ng puso ay "Aray, aray, aray..."
Nasaan ka ba?
Sumpa ng langit dahil sa iyo
Eleven years since I've set sail,
and so far it's to no avail,
Eleven words, yeah, I have held on
(Eleven thoughts I'm holding on)
even though you might've moved on
(Despite the fact you're moving on)
I will sacrifice the best of times
for the times that we have spent...
And if you read between the lines
you'll hear an echo of my lament:
Nguni't, kung ika'y makuha
Tunay ba'ng mahal pa kita?
Sa loob ko ngayon ay walang kapayapaan
Hanggang ikaw ay makita
Nasaan ka ba?

Discovered while traveling in my home country The Philippines. Reminds me a lot of tricot. On repeat for almost a year, highly recommended, especially track #5, Frontiers. Murphee K
Full disclosure: I've personally met and played on the same bill with members of this wonderful classical VG band. But that just makes it even more special. I recommend track #ALL OF THEM. Murphee K
