about
Here's another song that was heavily influenced by MTX, and this time I tried to emulate Dr. Frank's clever word plays and turn of phrases to weave together a story song.
So there was a house party in Gainesville one night where several bands played. We were both into house parties at the time, so she and I met there as previously arranged. Then somehow or other we lost track of each other.
The next 48 hours were confusing, and I'm not sure if it it's because my brain internalized and repeatedly analyzed that encounter or whatnot, but at any rate, I went home afterwards and slept for the next 24 hours. I then subsequently stayed up for the next 24 hours to write the first draft of the song.
In the middle of writing, I actually threw away the lyrics from an old song I've been working on for this one. And I think it fit better.

lyrics
My heart is fleeting fast for I'm meeting somebody like you today. The note, it said, "Set out for my silhouette at tonight's soiree."
So here I go, feeling irresolute (because when you're young, there's nothing else to do). So I look forward, for tonight's debut, to finally hear your voice when I'm next to you.
I arrived at the party around 11:15 and hoped that you would soon appear. Then there you are, the "stubborn star", amidst the awkwardness I drew near.
So I pursued despite my feelings of: "...this attitude would turn most people off..." I'm thinking, "Dude, what am I so afraid of?" when finally, from this place, you sprinted off.
Mixed in the mess of the bested and the unexpressed, caught in the air of uncertainty and second guess, clutching the trail of her dust before it fades away, hoping someday you'll bestow some thought to when I say, "Discard your cloak and let it float away toward this boat," and I'd recover until the day when my "Why?"s will stand a chance to her "I dunno."s
Lost and never found again: "Where or when did she go?" Now I have this song to mend because now I am adrift from the stars that she's holding...the stars she's folding...the stars are FALLING!!!

Discovered while traveling in my home country The Philippines. Reminds me a lot of tricot. On repeat for almost a year, highly recommended, especially track #5, Frontiers. Murphee K
Full disclosure: I've personally met and played on the same bill with members of this wonderful classical VG band. But that just makes it even more special. I recommend track #ALL OF THEM. Murphee K
